Ayeyarwaddy International School is located in the SE corner of Mandalay. The school is surrounded by fields, and the site offers picturesque views of the Shan Mountains. Our main building consists of 50 classrooms as well as various administrative offices, three well-equipped science laboratories, three ICT rooms with 30 desktop computers each, and dedicated spaces for our PE, Art, and Music programs. Each classroom has a SMART Board and projector, making us the leader in technology integration for the region. In addition to the main building, Ayeyarwaddy International School has a spacious cafeteria and a gymnasium/assembly hall. At the rear of the school property, we have a large, natural grass football field, a swimming pool, and an apartment complex for our foreign faculty. In the summer of 2018, we completed the construction of a new preschool building and additional teacher apartments in the one undeveloped part of our 4.5-acre campus.
Library
Ayeyarwaddy International School library promotes a love of reading, and life-long learning and independence through our library experience. With a wide variety of books to choose from, students enjoy their time in the library. We feature an inviting atmosphere with couch groupings, bean bags chairs to curl up in with a great read, and a bright and colorful facility to encourage frequent visits. And most importantly, we have books, books, and more books! Everything from the classical canon to young adult literature to charming children’s books is offered for onsite reading, or a visit to a student’s home. Our students visit once a week with their classes to check out books, learn library skills, and develop active listening skills by reading aloud.
Our library uses a web-based system to record, catalog and circulate library materials. This system allows our students and staff to have access to our comprehensive online catalog, and affords our students a hands-on primer to prepare them for their university experiences.
Science Labs
AIS offers three fully equipped science laboratories for our elementary and secondary students. The laboratories give our students the opportunity for hands-on learning through science experiments. Students will develop an interest and fascination in science as they complete these lab lessons. The science labs are also fully equipped with the proper safety materials, so students can have a fun, educational, and safe time learning.
