At AIS, we are fortunate to have both the facilities and qualified teaching faculty needed to provide a valuable athletics experience. Curricular PE classes include units in gymnastics, swimming, dance, basketball, soccer, volleyball, badminton, table tennis, track & field, softball, health & physical fitness, and sports leadership. In addition, a variety of extra-curricular clubs are offered to all students following the school day, which include lacrosse, football, soccer, sketching, badminton, yoga, reading, table tennis, music/band, jiu jitsu, swimming, volleyball, Spanish, recycling, guitar, nature, volunteer, Japanese, mural painting, newspaper, Student Council, yearbook, Hour of Code, skateboarding, blogging, creative writing, and World Scholars Cup, among others.
In athletics, we compete with schools in Mandalay and other parts of the country in soccer, basketball, badminton, swimming, volleyball, and table tennis for both boys and girls. We are the only member of MISAC (Myanmar International School Athletic Conference) to be based outside of Yangon.
Internally, we have a number of annual sports competitions:

- October – Swim Meets (Grades 4-8)
- November – Badminton Tournaments (Grades 4-12)
- December – Soccer Tournaments (Grades 1-12)
- February – Charity Fun Run (KG-Grade 12)
- March – Field Days (KG-Grade 12)
- May – Dance Shows (Grades 1-12)
We also host annual external tournaments in table tennis, badminton, soccer, volleyball, swimming, and basketball. Although we encourage students to be competitive and try to achieve their potential, the most important aspect of all sporting activity at AIS is sportsmanship, and these values are at the heart of everything we do.
